İnsan derisi yandaki şematik resimde görüldüğü gibi birkaç tabakadan oluşmuştur. Gözle görünen en dış tabaka epidermis adını alır. Epidermisde birçok tabaka ve çok sayıda hücrelerden oluşmuştur. Epidermisin bazal tabakasında sürekli oluşan hücreler devamlı yenilenerek epidermisin en dış tabakasındaki hayatiyetini kaybeden hücrelerin yerini alırlar. Epidermisin altında dermis adı verilen tabaka yer alır. Bu tabaka kollagen doku ve damarlardan oluşmuştur. Epidermisin beslenmesi dermis tabakasındaki damarsal yapılar aracılığıyladır. Dermisin altında destek görevi gören deri altı yağ dokusu bulunur.

Laser hair removal is the fastest method of getting rid of body hair. The laser emits an invisible light which penetrates the skin without damaging it; it is then absorbed by the pigments of the pilous follicle. The laser light selectively absorbed by the follicle damages its functions and impairs its ability to fabricate hair. At the level of the pilous follicle, the laser light absorbed by the pigments is then transformed into heat which damages the hair but not the surrounding skin.
